a big idea: mini album cover

I am still patiently (not really) awaiting the pictures I ordered for my NYC mini album. I generally don't order pictures over the Internet (but ordered from Target this time) because I am too impatient, but I was ordering a lot of pictures and quite a few in bigger sizes. There was a significant cost savings to shipping rather than sending them to the store. But man, savings or no savings...I want my pictures.

Who is a fast shipper if I try this again?

While I wait I have been looking for inspiration and found some today at Studio Calico.

I love the layered, collagey (is that a word?) look of this. I see brads, stamps, paper flowers, stickers, patterned paper... The variety of embellishments really give it a lot of charm.

I love this look because it works on many different levels. Overall it is pretty and pleasing to the eye, but as you look closer you notice so many details that add to your enjoyment. Seems like a good fit for a mini book about a frenetic city like New York that also has many layers.

I may "scraplift" this look for my cover. I hope I get a chance to work on it tonight, but unfortunately I also have financial statements to check. Darn.

I vote you split the difference. Decide how much time minimum you want to work on your design (say 1 hour) and then do some financial statements for 2X. If you end up finishing statements entirely, then you can go back to enjoying some craftyness. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

You're a Studio Calico fan? I'm a kit subscriber there. They're generally a bit more whimsical and not as clean-lines as I am, but I love the community.
Do you do kits at all?
When I am printing lots of photos for my archives (as opposed to for my pages) I order them from Snapfish. If I'm ordering for a page then I use my local place which is much more expensive but I'm too impatient to wait for Snapfish. Of course this isn't answering your question as to fast shippers b/c I don't really know to say how Snapfish compares to others... rambling... .

TLS - I don't subscribe to kits, but I have easier access to craft stores than you (but less access to sun and fun!!!). I actually started looking at SC through a link on your blog, so thanks for the inspiration!!!
