return on creativity: sharpie bag

I adore my Sharpies.  I use Sharpies in my studio.  I use Sharpie pens at work.  Since I can't get enough of Sharpies I decided to make a bag to contain them all.

I used a lightbox to trace my drawings onto the fabric (printables below).

I filled the back of the bag with random doodles. I used this book for ideas.

Sharpie bag alternate back printable (give as a gift filled with Sharpies and let the recipient doodle their own design)

I've never put a zipper in a bag before in my life, I followed this tutorial. It worked out OK. I still need to perfect more square corners on the zipper side. I bought three zippers for this project and only went through two, so that's pretty good in my book. My bag measurements are 8.5 inches by five inches.

Now my Sharpies have the beautiful bag they deserve!

Saw your link on the Be Different...Act Normal blog. This bag is SO cute...how creative! Did you use a "Sharpie" to draw on the fabric or a fabric marker?

That is really cute! I'm not sure I'd be able to write and draw as pretty as you do, but I love the idea!

This is adorable. I love Sharpies too but wouldn't have thought to make them their own home.

Ha! When I saw this I got the biggest kick! I hav a purple bag about the size of yours that is my life and sharpies, I carry it just about anywhere! But mostly school, it has all my favorite sharpies in it. My lovely friends nicknamed it "the sharpie bag" and so it has been for a very long time. But I hav too say I love yours soooo much and might try to make one! I guess then it really will be " the sharpie bag"! Thanks soo much for sharing!
